We did not listen to this advice - Being only three of us, we had major difficulty rushing to camp, with around 100 pounds of equipment on each of our backs. The trail is not to be taken lightly. It appears much longer than the calculated 5km and includes sometimes rough ground and a few climbs, with one being particularly difficult, stretching almost 50 meters with a very steep climb. There is a rope to assist you but beware of the slippery terrain. Take this advice seriously, as you never know what comes ahead. We got hit with an intense downpour which also slowed us down. If you do plan ahead, you should be completely fine, we just got hit with some bad luck. \n\nThe campsite is very easy to find, as the trail is well marked throughout the hike, though you do have to keep good awareness. Some of the signs along the way are damaged, so you want to know your directions. Arriving at the Stratton campsites, you will find Stratton-02 just on your right, marked by an orange campground sign. You can also notice it from the structures present. You can also hike down Stratton Lake on a path that connects all campsites, which eventually leads to the High Falls. \n\nArriving at the campsite, you will be greeted with an amazing setup, which we built in our free time during our stay. This includes some comfortable seating benches that surround a spacious stone fire, giving out on a wonderful view of the Barron River. We also set up a large rock as a practicable table, accompanied by some seating for many. There is one large flat surface with little to no rocks with can easily fit a 6-person tent. There are 2 other emplacements that can be used, but these aren't as large. There are multiple trees around the campsite, which can serve to set up a hammock, or to hang up a tarp as rain cover. In terms of privacy, being a backcountry campsite, you can expect to have little to no encounters with others. We did not see anyone during our stay, probably due to the poor weather. Other structures include logs in between trees that serve as tables or other utilities, and some large stone steps to the water. \n\nSpeaking of, the swimming is great. The access is easy, facilitated by the steps, there is no algae, and the water is crystal clear. Hence, swimming is very enjoyable. Even though we camped in temperatures dropping as low as 0 degrees, we had great fun swimming in the freezing water. However, I could imagine that better weather would allow some enjoyable times. \n\nThe views are picturesque as you are surrounded by complete wilderness. We encountered multiple birds, including many loons. No bears though. \n\nWe left a little gift for future campers, a bottle of Firestarter which you are free to use, please be mindful of fire advisories though, and try to conserve it. \n\nOverall, we visited the other campsites, all of which lacked structures, only having a stone campfire. Stratton-02 is therefore definitely your best option.
